More fire, more blood. We’re counting down the days until Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon returns for season 2. The HBO series, based on George R.R. Martin‘s novel Fire & Blood, is expected to have fewer time jumps after the first season spanned more than a decade to explain how Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) began their family feud. The season 1 finale set the stage for the civil war between Rhaenyra and half-brother Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) over the Iron Throne. The turning point, which took place in the final episode, was the death of Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault). Her son was killed during a dragon fight with Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). “The moment that she receives the news of Luke’s passing, that attempt at mediation crumbles,” D’Arcy told Entertainment Weekly in October 2022, referring to Rhaenyra’s various attempts to make peace with her family. “I am excited to discover what happens when Rhaenyra does less navigating and more acting on her instincts and desires.” Keep scrolling for everything to know about House of the Dragon season 2:
