When the two had been dating, their relationship made headlines time and again. It did not take long for their personal life to become a trending topic of discussion on social media with Katy even talking about keeping the ‘real truth’ about Russell locked in her face.
How long were Katy Perry and Russell Brand married?
Katy and Russell were married for 14 months. The pair started dating shortly after they met each other at the VMAs in 2019.
Three months after dating, the couple took a trip to India where the actor ended up proposing. They eventually had a big fat Indian wedding in Rajasthan.
However, their relationship did not last long and Russell ended up breaking up with the singer via a text message. The same was recorded and shown in her documentary Part of Me.
Singer spoke about knowing the real Russell Brand
In an interview, Katy opened up more about her split and admitted knowing the ‘real’ Russell. She said: “At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle the equalness. He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting.”
“I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that,” she continued.

At the moment, Katy is in a relationship with Orlando Bloom. The pair are proud parents to two children.
Meanwhile, Russell is Laura Brand, who is an author and illustrator. They have two children, Mabel and Peggy.
