Pixie Lott has opened up about how life has changed for her after releasing new music for the first time in 10 years.

The singer, 33, found fame at 18-years-old when her debut single Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) went to number one in 2009 but insisted she isn’t worried about chart success anymore.

The award winning artist revealed she is instead focused on touring with her son Albert, who she welcomed last year with husband Oliver Chester and just enjoying the album release.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline about her new single, Somebody’s Daughter, Pixie explained how she has taken ‘five years’ perfecting her writing and sound and has not followed any ‘trends’.

She said: ‘Part of the reason for making this kind of album was with live shows in mind, like real band hammering out. Performing live is my most favourite thing, I love writing, I love being in the studio, but performing live is my number one.’

She continued: ‘To tour this album is definitely on the agenda. I think because this album comes out in September, the tour will probably be next year. But I’ve got my first headline show that I’ve done in years on July 11.

‘I think people probably think it’s really rock and roll on tour, I’m sure it is for a lot of bands, but I was always that, even as an 18-year-old, backstage voice resting with a honey and lemon like not talking and warming up. It was not really rock and roll until like the last show of the tour.

Yet she insisted now is the right time for her comeback, as she reasoned: ‘I feel like the timing is perfect. The main thing is that I get to experience this whole new era with my little baby, Bertie.

‘I’m going to bring him along to as many experiences and adventures as possible. He’s already got his little ear defenders so he can come to the show and I’m happy I get to share it with him this time.’

Pixie went onto admit she is still ‘learning the ropes’ of the music industry as it has ‘changed so much’ since she last released an album.

She noted that artists are no longer ‘quite as focused on chart positions’ and put their attentions more on releasing singles quickly.

She said: ‘It feels crazy that it’s been 10 years because I just don’t know how that’s happened like I have done lots of different things throughout the 10 years but I never meant for it to be that long to release an album.

‘I feel the music industry has changed so much though and I feel like I’m still kind of learning the ropes because my brain is still on how it was before.

‘Now people aren’t really bothered about chart positions anymore and back in the day it was always like, “we’re going to promote it and then focus on that release week and then go for that chart position” and now people are not talking about that at all.

‘It’s all changed as well in the sense that people are releasing songs all the time. It’s very fast-paced and this album is actually the complete opposite of that.’

Pixie explained she has been working on her album for ‘five years’ and has avoided ‘trends’ so her music wouldn’t date.

She revealed that this time around she worked with a small group who she ‘trusted’ rather than before when she was put with ‘different producers and writers every single day’ and never had the chance to build a relationship to write openly.

The mother-of-one said she is ‘pleased’ she has ‘gone the complete opposite’ with her writing process to how the music industry is now.

She explained: ‘It has been five years in the making, longer than I thought but luckily because it was this style of timeless music, it hopefully can kind of come out at any point.

‘If it was more of a trend led thing now it would definitely have dated five years later but it’s been more of an album process of just doing attention to detail and writing these songs, going back to them, changing the lyric and really perfecting it and going in.

‘I’ve really taken time over it which is a very contrast in today’s kind of music business, but hey that’s just how I wanted it to be.

‘It started out as like a passion project I was doing on the side just for me and then I was like why am I doing it on the side I should just be focusing on it. So I took a bit of a risk and did it on my own.

‘It was a small group of people I worked with over that five years. We really delved into other sides of me, the deeper sides that I’ve never written about before.

‘I felt like I built up that trust where you can go to those places. I absolutely loved doing it so we kind of cover all different subject matters so it will be about love, family, nostalgia, mental health an a wide range of subject matters

‘Before when I was making albums I was working with completely different producers and writers every single day.’

Earlier this year Pixie confirmed her son’s adorable name and gender after keeping it tightly under wraps.

She shared a snap and announced that they called their baby boy Albert Charles Cheshire.

She wrote: ‘Albert Charles Cheshire. It has already been the most amazing time of our lives with you little Bertie and we feel so incredibly lucky you chose us to be your m and d xx.’

Pixie looked effortlessly glamorous in a pink collared mini dress, which she styled with silver pumps and a faux-fur lined blue jacket.

She sweetly cradled her baby boy, who was wrapped up in a blue blanket and knitted hat, as model Oliver planted a kiss on her cheek outside the church.

Pixie’s fourth studio album, Encino, will drop on September 27.
