Anti-death penalty advocate Sister Helen Prejean is getting some help of Kim Kardashian in the documentary Rebel Nun.

In a clip from the documentary, directed by Dominic Sivyer, Sister Prejean is seen getting a text from Kardashian and then calling the star to enlist her help in the case of Richard Glossip, a man who was convicted of murder in 1997 and has been on death row for over two decades for a case that many have said was mishandled.

“I’m so honored to work alongside you. I follow you on social media and you have shown me so many cases that have been brought to my attention. Just look at what you post,” Kardashian tells the nun over Facetime. The two then strategize how to best bring attention to Glossip’s situation. For her part, Kardashian has become an advocate for criminal justice reform, speaking with governors and legislators, as well as former President Donald Trump, to lobby for clemency petitions, among other efforts.

Sister Prejean, 84, has been advocating for the end to the death penalty for six decades and her work became the basis for the Oscar-winning movie Dead Man Walking, with Susan Sarandon playing the nun. Sarandon, who won an Oscar for the 1995 feature and also appears in the doc, was on hand at the film’s premiere at the Tribeca Festival, where the nun received a standing ovation.

Universal Pictures Content Group and Passion Pictures are behind Rebel Nun.
