We’re into the final ten gameweeks of the 2023/24 Premier League season, and everything is still to play for.
At one end of the table, we have three teams vying for the title that are separated by a single point. At the other, seven teams trying with all of their might to avoid relegation.
So which players have dragged their teams to their current position in the league table? We’ve taken a look by picking a player of the season so far for all 20 teams.
Declan Rice
The fact that no one talks about the mega £105m Arsenal forked out to sign him tells you all you need to know about how good Declan Rice has been this season.
The midfielder has been a game-changing addition to the Gunners’ midfield, providing defensive steel and offensive prowess in equal measure.
Ollie Watkins
Having enjoyed a stunning end to last season, Ollie Watkins proved he wasn’t a half-season wonder in 2023/24 by actually getting even better. His 16 goals and ten assists in the Premier League have propelled his team to new heights.
He’s been key to absolutely everything Aston Villa have achieved under Unai Emery.
Dominic Solanke
Big things had been expected of Dominic Solanke for quite a few years, and ten years since his professional debut at Chelsea, he’s finally producing them with Bournemouth.
The forward has been in stunning form throughout the 2023/24 season, bagging 15 league goals which should keep his team in the top flight for another season. Nice one.
Neal Maupay
Brentford haven’t been particularly good this season. In fact, they’ve been very bad.
A mixture of players underperforming and players serving betting bans has led to the Bees sitting just on the edges of the relegation zone, but one player who can’t be faulted too much is Neal Maupay.
While others have struggled, Maupay has generally played quite well this season, scoring six league goals for his side.
Pascal Gross
The 32-year-old creator-in-chief at the Amex Stadium has once again been in fabulous form during the 2023/24 season.
Gross has bagged himself a career-best tally of ten assists in the Premier League alone – a milestone only equalled by Ollie Watkins and Kieran Trippier in the whole division.
David Datro Fofana
A January loan signing being a club’s best player of the season so far?
Yep, that’s how bad Burnley have been.
Fofana has impressed in his first few outings for the Turf Moor club though, earning his side a rare win in March with a goal against Brentford.
Cole Palmer
Chelsea’s new owners have spent well over £1bn on new signings in recent seasons, and Cole Palmer is one of a very small number that they got right.
The ex-Man City man has been outstanding at Stamford Bridge, instantly becoming the most important player for the club’s present and long-term future.
Ebere Eze
Injuries have hindered Ebere Eze this season, but when he’s fit and firing there are very few players more entertaining to watch in the Premier League.
The England international has shown glimpses of the incredible things he’s capable of in 2023/24, chipping in with a decent return of six goals in 15 starts.
Jarrad Branthwaite
Branthwaite has been one of the breakout stars of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The towering 21-year-old has been fantastic for Everton – so fantastic, in fact, that he he recently earned his maiden senior call-up with England.
Joao Palhinha
No player in the Premier League has won more tackles than Joao Palhinha throughout the current season… or last season either, for that matter.
To put it bluntly, Fulham would probably be relegation candidates without their star midfielder.
Mohamed Salah
After a supposed down year (in which he scored 19 Premier League goals), Mohamed Salah has been firmly back to his best in 2023/24.
The Egyptian superstar has 15 goals and nine assists to his name already and looks hell-bent on firing Liverpool to a second-ever Premier League title.
Ross Barkley
Yep, it’s 2024 and Ross Barkley is a Premier League’s club’s best player of the season so far.
The now 30-year-old (crazy, right?) returned from a stint in France over the summer as a new footballer and is now heavily in contention for an England call-up as a result.
Erling Haaland
Sure, Erling Haaland doesn’t look set to break the Premier League goalscoring record once again this season, but his 18 goals in 23 games (the best tally in the league) is nothing to be sniffed at.
He’s the best striker in England by quite a distance.
Kobbie Mainoo
In his debut senior as a professional footballer, despite being just 18 years old, Kobbie Mainoo is already:
He’s a genuine superstar in the making.
Anthony Gordon
A lot of eyebrows were raised when Newcastle United forked out £45m for an underperforming Anthony Gordon in January 2023.
Fast forward a year, and Gordon is more than living up to his price tag.
The wide midfielder has hit double-figure goal contributions this season already, and looks to be improving and becoming more confident with each passing week.
Anthony Elanga
As their position in the Premier League table attests, the large bulk of money that Nottingham Forest spent on new players in the summer was wasted (here’s looking at you, Ibrahim Sangare).
One player who has played well, however, is Anthony Elanga. The £15m signing has bagged five goals and seven assists for his new club in his debut season. Nice.
Vinicius Souza
Sheffield United have been utterly dreadful this season, but that’s not Vinicius Souza’s fault.
The Brazilian midfielder has at least given it a go in the Premier League (unlike many of his teammates and his current manager), winning the second-most tackles in the division.
Son Heung-min
The South Korean superstar took over the Tottenham captaincy when Harry Kane upped sticks for Germany in the summer, and he’s ensured that his team haven’t really missed their all-time top goalscorer.
Son has been a consistent performer throughout the 2023/24 campaign, chipping in with 22 goal contributions thus far.
Jarrod Bowen
Another player who has seamlessly replaced a club legend in a leadership role this season is Jarrod Bowen.
The England international has notched up a career-best tally of goals this season already.
Mario Lemina
If you’d have told a Juventus fan a few years ago that Mario Lemina would be singled out as club’s ‘player of the season’ they’d have probably laughed in your face.
Here we are in 2024 though, with Mario Lemina starring for Wolves in the Premier League.
