Draw starting imminently

A pilgrimage for Yeovil – but no mascot?

Yeovil Town fans are making a 448-mile round trip for their clash against Wrexham today.

However, the club claim they have been refused permission for their mascot, the Jolly Green Gian, to lead the team out today.

It’s not quite clear who has made the call at this stage.

All the same, great effort from Yeovil’s fans for the journey!

Sin-bins COULD be trialled in the FA Cup

They’re a contentious ideal, with some thinking they’re a great thing and other thinking they would detract from the purity of football, but sin bins could be trialled in the FA Cup.

The proposed introduction of 10-minute sin-bins is an attempt to tackle dissent and clamping down on tactical fouls.

Would you want sin-bins in football? Let us know in the comments and make sure to check out the article below.

FA Cup round-up

Reading all this feeling a bit lost? Out of touch with the action so far? Fear not!

Stephen Davies did the hard yards and rounded up some of the recent action for us – including a win for Maidstone over Barrow to reach the third round for the first time in 35 years!

Read below.

I went from eating snakes to stay alive to scoring a Premier League winner against Man United… now I’m out for FA Cup success with a Non-League side!

An ex-Premier League star has opened up about their tough childhood and the extents they went to for food growing up in Cameroon before a career at the pinnacle of the game.

The ex-defender – now 37 – spent 18 years in senior English football before eventually hanging up their boots in 2022 to take on a role as manager of a non-league outfit in search of an FA Cup giant-killing.

What games are on today?

Four matches are on today after the draw, which starts in 20 minutes!

  • Eastleigh vs Reading
  • Aldershot vs Stockport
  • Chesterfield vs Leyton Orient
  • Wrexham vs Yeovil

Any fans of these clubs reading? Let us know your predictions in the comments.

What a win it would be for Eastleigh if they could knock out former Premier League side Reading.

Chesterfield’s manic day

Chesterfield have summoned fans to rescue their clash against Leyton Orient today, and it looks like they’ve made solid progress.

Their game at 2pm is ON, and what a firecracker it should be. The Spirteites sit top of the National League and get to test their credentials against a Leyton Orient side who are 16th in League One, two tiers above them. Anything is possible.

No home comforts in December!

Alfreton Town had to call off their second-round clash against Walsall just six minutes before they were due to get underway because the pitch was frozen.

Instead of the football, BBC viewers had to be treated to ‘Money for Nothing’ instead – while Alfreton were left wondering if their noble efforts to prepare the ground were all for nothing!

A magical journey for Ramsgate

Ramsgate FC are the lowest-ranked side left in the FA Cup, residing in the cosy eighth tier of English football.

They’re actually top of the Isthmian League South East Division having won ten of 12 games, so they’re no small prey themselves.

Ramsgate will take on AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Monday night to learn their fate.

They can take inspiration from Marine, who reached the third round in 2021, becoming just the second team from the eighth tier to do so ever.

And sure, they lost 5-0 to Tottenham, but that doesn’t matter!

Mr Whippy?

Peterborough sealed passage to the third round yesterday with a 2-1 win over Doncaster.

And check out this goal! Quite the curler from Harrison Burrows, who was awarded the goal despite some debate if it had come off anyone else.

I’d be claiming that if I was him, for sure. Not sure he meant it, though!

How will it work?

  • The third round of the FA Cup sees 64 teams compete.
  • All 20 Premier League clubs and all 24 Championship clubs enter at this stage, giving lower-level EFL clubs and non-league sides a shot at a heady away day.
  • We still need to find out some of the winners from the second round, so there are matches on today and in coming days to determine who will advance.

Welcome!
