A sometimes heated London derby between West Ham and Tottenham ultimately ended level with the points shared between the two sides.

Brennan Johnson has been fine form in recent weeks, and the Welshman repaid Ange Postecoglou‘s faith in him by getting on the end of a low Timo Werner to tap the visitors into the lead after just five minutes.

The Hammers were not about to take going behind lying down however, and captain Kurt Zouma managed to direct a Jarrod Bowen corner beyond Guglielmo Vicario to level proceedings.

Both teams had chances to take the lead after the interval and while the momentum of the game slowed in the closing stages, a late flurry threatened to break the stalemate in stoppage time.

Here, Mail Sport’s Kathryn Batte has given her expert player ratings from the London Stadium.

WEST HAM (4-2-3-1)

Lukasz Fabianski – 6

Came into the starting XI after Alphonse Areola picked up an injury in the defeat at Newcastle. Could do little about the goal he conceded

Vladimir Coufal – 6

Was given the runaround by Timo Wener in the first half and let his cross come in too easily for Spurs’ opener, but improved after the break.

Konstantinos Mavropanos – 6.5

Was caught on his heels slightly for the Spurs opener but did well to limit Son Heung-Min’s impact on the game. Can be pleased with his performance here.

Kurt Zouma – 7

David Moyes had called on his leaders to step up and the West Ham captain responded. Scored with his back from Bowen’s corner to bring his side level in the first half and, alongside Mavropanos, kept Son quiet. The defender’s best game for a while.

Emerson – 6

Failed to track Brennan Johnson for the opening goal but kept him quiet for much of the game thereafter. Did not get much of a chance to join in with any West Ham attacks.

Tomas Soucek – 6.5

A steady performance from the Czech midfielder. Mopped up defensively when he needed to with a couple of important tackles to break up Tottenham attacks.

James Ward-Prowse – 6

Has started the last two games due to Edson Alvarez’s suspension but not sure he has done enough to keep him out of the side for Saturday’s trip to Wolves. Struggled to make much of an impact and still looks short of confidence.

Jarrod Bowen – 6.5

Missed a good chance to score early on before Spurs took the lead, but provided the assist for Zouma’s goal. A willing runner, as he always is, and kept trying to make things happen.

Lucas Paqueta – 6

Showed flashes of quality at times but his end product and final pass was lacking.

Mohammed Kudus – 6

After lighting up St James’ Park with a goal and assist at the weekend, the winger had a quieter evening at the London Stadium. Failed to really get at right back Pedro Porro, who had a comfortable night.

Michail Antonio – 6

Led the line well and made himself a nuisance at set-pieces but missed a great 1v1 chance to put his team in front on the hour mark. Will be disappointed he did not do better. Booked.

Manager – David Moyes – 6

Will be happy with the response after last weekend’s defeat at Newcastle. A valuable point for his team, who were much better in defence despite conceding early. Will be frustrated that Antonio did not convert his big chance.

TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1)

Guglielmo Vicario – 6

Looked a bit uncertain from West Ham’s set-pieces and allowed Antonio to bully him on a couple of occasions. But did not have many shots to save after the equaliser.

Pedro Porro – 6.5

Ensured Kudus was not given time or space on the ball and tried his best to get forward to join in with his side’s attacks.

Cristian Romero – 6.5

A solid performance from Tottenham’s reliable centre back. Ensured West Ham’s forwards were limited to half chances, other than the 1v1 which fell to Antonio in the second half.

Micky van de Ven – 6

Was out-jumped by Zouma for West Ham’s equaliser and looked to be losing the physical battle with Antonio. But improved in the second half to limit West Ham’s chances in front of goal. Booked.

Destiny Udogie – 6.5

Stood up to the task of defending against Bowen well, even if the winger got in behind him on a couple of occasions in the first half. Not able to get forward much in the second half.

Yves Bissouma – 6

Tried to get his team up the pitch but was not able to really put his stamp on the game. But did manage to keep Paqueta quiet for much of the night.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Tidy in possession without creating any clear-cut chances. Did not put a foot wrong before his manager decided to bring on the fresh legs of Pape Matar Sarr in the 70th minute.

Brennan Johnson – 6.5

Showed great movement to convert Timo Werner’s cross in the fifth minute but faded out of the game as the night progressed. Needed to run at Emerson more in the second half. Booked.

James Maddison – 5

Unusually quiet game for Tottenham’s creative man. Became embroiled in a disagreement with Paqueta in the first half which seemed to unsettle him and struggled to make much of an impact after that.

Timo Werner – 6.5

Started really well and showed pace and precision to create the opening goal. Should have kept running at Coufal but ended up fading out of the game in the second half.

Son Heung-Min – 5

A very quiet night for Tottenham’s captain, who found himself marked closely by West Ham’s two centre backs. A frustrating evening for the forward.

Manager – Ange Postecoglou – 6

Will be frustrated by how his team conceded from a set-piece after what had been a strong start. Will also be disappointed by their lack of creativity in the second half.
