Mohammed Kudus will travel to London for his West Ham medical on Saturday after a £38million fee and five-year contract was agreed with Ajax and the player.

West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten flew to Razgrad, Bulgaria on Thursday to watch Kudus score a hat-trick in his final game for Ajax against Ludogorets.

Though that was in the Europa League, he will still be eligible to represent West Ham in the competition this season.

Steidten and Kudus, the 23-year-old Ghana international, are scheduled to fly back to London via private jet today on Saturday to complete the transfer package, which is worth €41.5m plus €3m in add-ons (£35.5m plus £2.5m).

Kudus will become West Ham’s fourth summer signing – after Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos – when he puts pen to paper on the five-year deal.

West Ham insiders feel Kudus will be their signing of the summer after the attacker was being chased by numerous other clubs, including Brighton. Arsenal and Chelsea had also shown an interest in him.

The Hammers received £105m from Arsenal for Declan Rice and have now spent the majority of that money.
