Sky Sports will unveil their brand new Monday Night Football studio for the first time tonight when Manchester United host Wolves.

The match at Old Trafford will conclude the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, and Sky have pulled out all the stops to ensure fans get the best analysis of the action from their pundits.

Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Karen Carney will join presenter David Jones to assess the game’s main talking points, and will have a new tactics ‘dancefloor’ to help them.

The dancefloor will allow replays to be ‘shown from any player’s perspective’, giving fans the chance to see the game from more angles than ever before, and the experts have all been given time on the LED flooring to practice ahead of tonight’s live action.

Neville and co. will also have access to a super wide high-res screen, and the set has a virtual canopy roof, as Sky look to improve their coverage this season.

Speaking about the changes, Sky Sports Managing Director Jonathan Licht said: ‘Sky Sports has been at the forefront of broadcasting innovation since our inception over 30 years ago.

‘The new studio unveiled today demonstrates our commitment to continuing to give sports fans the most entertaining viewing experience possible of the biggest and most-loved events in the sporting calendar.’

Sky Sports Director of Creative Output Ben Wickham added: ‘We wanted to create a modular space that brings the latest technology to our customer, allows us to showcase the joy of sport, and capture the huge advances in technology that are happening rapidly.

‘As well as sport, it takes inspiration from cinema and entertainment, with the tech involved allowing us to be brave and add an entire new dimension to our output. The options are endless for future content presented from this studio.’

The studio will also cover other sports during the year, with Sky confirming it will be used for the final tennis grand slam of the year, the US Open, which starts on August 28.

Sky have regularly upgraded their use of technology over the years, with Carragher and Neville using virtual reality headsets in the past to show supporters the view of specific players from certain key moments in matches.

They have now made further changes, and fans will get to see them in action when the experts break down this weekend’s matches and United’s clash with Wolves tonight.
