A comfortable victory over Fulham saw Chelsea win the inaugural Premier League Summer Series.

Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkunku got the goals in the first half in Maryland and saw the Blues finish two points clear at the top of the table in what was a winner-take-all encounter.

It was a fairly uneventful start to the game before Silva rose highest to head home from a corner in the 20th minute.

Christopher Nkunku then doubled the lead shortly before the break with a simple tap in and Mauricio Pochettino’s men never looked back.

Chelsea’s new manager made nine changes at half-time but they remained in control and Fulham relied on some last-ditch defending to prevent the scoreline getting worse.

Chelsea finish the Summer Series with two wins and a draw, having previously beaten Brighton and shared the points with Newcastle.

Their final pre-season fixture is against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in Chicago.

The team will fly north to Illinois on Sunday night to begin their preparations for that game.
