When Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, he went out of his way to convince Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement and join him to play at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His sales pitch was pretty simple, all Brady did to convince Gronk was tell him he wanted to win more Super Bowl rings. From the very start, Brady knew he needed the tight end to at least have a shot at more trophies. But new information emerged on another former New England Patriots player who was approached by Tom Brady to play alongside him and Rob Gronkowski. Apparently, Brady failed to recruit this other player who is also a good friend and one of his most outspoken fans.

During a recent appearance on ‘The Rush with Maxx Crosby‘, former New England Patriots star Julian Edelman revealed that Brady also tried to recruit him. Edelman said not to Brady because he placed his love for the Patriots before anything else. Julian fancies himself as a one-team kind of player. Brady respected that and didn’t push any further. Edelman said: “He (Brady) would joke around about leaving with me for like four years. So this time, I was like, ‘Boy crying wolf’. He left. He hit me up when he left, and he goes, ‘Hey baby, you want me to get you down here?’ I said, ‘Nah, I’m good, bro. I’m a one-team man.'”
During that same year of 2020, Edelman rejected the Buccaneers and eventually found out he probably made a mistake. Tampa went on to win a Super Bowl with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski at the helm of the project. Although Edelman would’ve said no every time, one has to wonder if he still thinks about rejecting Brady’s proposal. Winning another Super Bowl ring is always a great selling point for any NFL player. Would Julian Edelman’s presence in the Bucs have made a difference in terms of better results for Brady and Gronk?
