It’s fairly common knowledge at this point that the Premier League is, by quite a distance, the best league in the world.

The league is home to the European champions, teams who can spend a combined £1.5bn on new players this summer, the best manager possibly of all time (Pep Guardiola), and – perhaps most importantly – the best footballers in the world.

Ahead of the 2023/24 season we at 90min thought we’d have a crack at predicting who the top 90 players will be in the Premier League next season.

Here’s the rankings from 50-41:

Club: Aston Villa
Position: Forward

The in-form striker in the Premier League for most of the spring, Ollie Watkins has looked like a new footballer since Unai Emery took charge at Villa Park.

He’ll be full of confidence heading into the new season.

Club: Brighton and Hove Albion
Position: Midfielder

Moise Caicedo was one of the real breakout stars of last season and one of the most talked about players of the current transfer window.

Whether or not he’ll stay at Brighton remains to be seen but if he does, or signs for another Premier League side, he’ll be one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the division once again.

Club: Chelsea
Position: Defender

Armed with a bumper new contract and the backing of new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, the sky really is the limit for Levi Colwill.

Expect the defender to be a PFA Young Player of the Year nominee.

Position: Defender

Kieran Trippier is the leader of the current Newcastle United team.

Brilliant defensively and deadly from set piece situations, Trippier will continue to be one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers in 2023/24.

The best goalkeeper in the Premier League last season, Nick Pope has been a revelation at Newcastle since making the move to Tyneside.

Club: Nottingham Forest
Position: Midfielder

Put simply: Nottingham Forest would not be a Premier League club if they didn’t have Morgan Gibbs-White.

They’ll need the attacking midfielder to be at his very best once again in the 2023/24 season to stave off relegation once again.

Club: Arsenal
Position: Wide forward

In hindsight, missing out on signing Mykhailo Mudryk and settling for Leandro Trossard instead in January was a blessing for Arsenal.

The Belgian has been very, very good under Mikel Arteta and his ability to play anywhere across the front three makes him an incredibly valuable asset.

Club: Liverpool
Position: Wide forward

Injuries meant Diogo Jota couldn’t have too much of an impact for Liverpool in his second year at the club, but his third promises to be much better.

The forward has been impressive in pre-season and has struck a seemingly fruitful relationship with new false nine Cody Gakpo.

Club: Arsenal
Position: Defender

One of Arsenal’s big signings this summer, Jurrien Timber adds experience, quality and tactical flexibility to a backline who were short of numbers last year.

Judging by his Community Shield outing, he’s going to be a huge hit at the Emirates Stadium.
