Imagine a weekend break filled with cultural stops, captivating activities, long countryside walks, historic towns and period houses. An afternoon of boutique shopping, evening beach strolls and delicious food and drink, while overlooking beautiful scenery.

Whether you’re looking to slow down or fully immerse yourself, East Yorkshire is a stunning escape from the everyday.

Begin in Beverley

A day in this historic yet charming town takes on many facets. Uncover the gothic tales of Beverley Minster, meet the resident cows along the Westwood pasture or delight in the bustling, weekly market. Beverley is a shopper’s dream with a bountiful mix of boutique independents and big-name brands.

What better way to replenish after a day spent browsing than with a relaxing cocktail and delicious cuisine? Whether it’s a hearty pub meal or exquisite plates from Michelin-starred restaurants, Beverley rises to the occasion.

If you prefer thrills as you sip champagne, then place your bets on the horses at Beverley Racecourse with flat racing between April and September.

Enjoy the scenery

Dramatic cliff top views, sweeping golden sands, pretty seaside towns and villages, the coastline is beautiful. Take to the cliff tops to explore the wild and rugged Flamborough Head, where you can spot some amazing wildlife while savouring the view.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs is home to nearly half a million seabirds during the summer months, including kittiwakes, gannets and – everyone’s favourite – the puffin. Breathe in the fresh air as water laps along the ever-changing shoreline at Spurn Point, with its iconic black and white lighthouse and breathtaking panoramic views.

Rolling hills, dry chalk valleys and vast skies are on offer in the Yorkshire Wolds, to be taken in on challenging hikes, pedal-pounding routes, or leisurely strolls.

All can be rounded off with a well-deserved delicacy of choice. Field to fork is in abundance here, and you can sample fresh produce and home-made treats in local farm shops and tearooms. The award-winning wines at Laurel Vines Vineyard and Winery are perfect to experience vine to bottle, as they grow, harvest, produce and pour on site.

On selected dates from April to September the picturesque vineyard is open for tours and picnics.
