It is not often you can say that Ryan Garcia and Oscar De la Hoya are operating on the same page, but they both seem to want a fight with Devin Haney to take place in 2024.
Garcia is the man who has set the ball rolling as he called out Haney during his dominant win against Regis Prograis on Saturday.
Haney now has the WBC junior welterweight title and also said he has been considering a move up to 147.
Garcia‘s last fight was against Oscar Duarte last weekend and that ended in a victory for Garcia.
“This was Devin at his finest, but his finest is something that can put people to sleep that is watching,” Garcia wrote on social media. “I know what he’s missing. He can have it one day but he don’t have it right now. Make your assumptions, I can’t wait to get it active with him!”

What makes the fight much more likely to actually happen is that De la Hoya has said that he will ‘push’ for it to take place, clearly thinking it is a good move for both fighters.
Despite the victory over Duarte, Ryan Garcia‘s performance did not convince everyone, as former Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez expressed his dissatisfaction by stating that Garcia spent much of the fight running.
“What kind of boxing am I watching now?” he commented during the broadcast of the fight on TV Azteca.
Ryan Garcia, who made 30 million dollars in his fight against Gervonta Davis last April, made 5 million dollars against Duarte according to various reports, barely a sixth of his previous earnings, and as WBA super lightweight champion he now wants an outright title fight.
