Rasmus Hojlund directed his frustration towards Manchester United team-mate Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentinian failed to find him running into space in the box.

The United striker was desperately searching to get his FA Cup account up and running against Newport and lead the attacking line while being flanked by both Garnacho and Antony.

Erik ten Hag‘s side eventually secured a valuable 4-2 victory at Rodney Parade and progression to the FA Cup fifth round, despite initially having their two-goal lead wiped away.

Brazilian winger Antony restored United’s lead in the 68th minute with a strike from a tight angle and Hojlund was left fuming just 12 minutes later when he was denied the chance to get in on the action.

Garnacho led a promising attack down the left-wing and had Newport defenders back-peddaling towards their box but lost the ball when he turned into an incoming tackle.

There appeared to be an opportunity to put an early cross into the back-post from where Hojlund was busting a lung to get to, but his efforts weren’t rewarded as Garnacho conceded possession.

The young United pair have shared a good relationship since Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford in a £72million summer transfer from Atalanta and are gaining more starting minutes alongside each other.

However, Hojlund let rip on his team-mate during a hot-tempered exchange that saw him twice raise his arms and shout in the direction of 19-year-old Garnacho.

The moment quickly passed as United sought to defend a Newport attack before Hojlund was finally rewarded with a goal to show for his contributions.

Garnacho and the Dane celebrated together as United’s victory was practically sealed with the game’s sixth goal.

Hojlund also released his previous frustration by screaming emphatically into the cool evening air as United avoided a potential FA Cup embarrassment.

United will play either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the FA Cup and are desperate to repeat their run to last season’s cup final.
