However, what is her official title? When Charles and Camilla wed in 2005, Camilla was made an HRH and given the title Duchess of Cornwall. While she was also technically the Princess of Wales, she never used the title out of respect for its former holder, Princess Diana. Instead, Camilla took on the feminine form of her husband’s title as Duke of Cornwall.
While the wife of a king is generally given the title of queen, Clarence House announced that when Charles assumes the throne, Camilla will be known as the princess consort.
