Erik ten Hag has again backed Marcus Rashford to come good despite the Manchester United star’s poor start to the season.
Rashford finished as United’s top scorer with 30 goals last season, and was rewarded with a new £300,000-a-week contract in the summer.
But he has found the net just once in 15 games this term, and hit a new low in Denmark on Wednesday night when he was sent off in United’s Champions League defeat to FC Copenhagen.
But Ten Hag once again threw his support behind the misfiring forward, and insisted that Rashford will rediscover top form.
‘I think he is not happy, and we are not happy,’ said the United boss. ‘He has high expectations for himself and in this moment he is not in his best form.

‘I know he will be back and when the team is playing better, he will play better and score goals. I am confident in that.
‘He will improve and score goals this season. He is totally aware of everything, so he will be back on track.
‘It can happen very quickly. Sometimes you only need one game and I am sure we will get there.’
The setback in Copenhagen was United’s ninth defeat in 17 games this season and once again saw Ten Hag’s side concede two goals in quick succession towards the end.
It has raised concerns about the character of the players, but the Dutchman insisted that he still trusts them. ‘I think we often proved we can overcome big setbacks, so, yeah,’ he replied.
‘It is about the end result. We have to win every game, so we are very disappointed about losing any game. But it is about the end result, a process, thinking about the process and then it is about managing the process. That’s all I focus on.’
With the international break looming, United can’t afford any more slip-ups as they host struggling Luton to Old Trafford on Saturday.
‘I think they had some more good performances and results, we are fully aware of that,’ Ten Hag said of the Hatters.
‘In the Premier League there is no easy game, you have to play at your best, at your highest levels, every single game.’
