A recent interview with the TNT Sports showed a side of Conor we rarely see, where he talks about the future and one of his biggest inspirations. It is no surprise that Mike Tyson is the ones that still makes Conor McGregor feel that competitive fire in his belly. Amid the upcoming fight against Jake Paul, Tyson awakened in Conor that animal and motivated him to accelerate his return to the UFC.

Here’s what Conor said: “Look at Tyson. Mike Tyson now is fighting Jake Paul, right? He’s fighting him, again, he fought Roy Jones also. There you go. That an old, that guy. When he fighting Roy Jones Jr. was something that really stuck out to me… Roy Jones also an aged guy. Why? It’s [to] recalibrate your competition… So I don’t really feel like I could ever call a day until I’m laid out flat and that’s it in a box… that’s when I would call it a day. Something that really struck me with Mike Tyson was that he was asked in an interview around the Roy Jones Jr. fight… ‘What would Cus D’Amato say to you after all these years? Why come back now?’ And what Tyson said really struck me. He said, ‘What Cus would say to is what took you so long?'”
When is Conor McGregor starting his camp to fight Chandler?
The Irishman is still in good timing to start his training camp ahead of the June fight against Michael Chandler. He is currently still doing press and promotion for his movie, as it was proven with this interview. But McGregor is already gearing up to plunge himself back into a rigorous camp that will get him in top shape for his next fight.
