The January transfer window is just around the corner and a number of Premier League clubs could be active next month.

After losing eight of their last 12 games in all competitions, Newcastle are desperate for reinforcements and Eddie Howe has made signing Kalvin Phillips his number one priority in January.

The England international looks finally set to leave Manchester City after finding first team opportunities hard to come by since joining from Leeds for £45million last summer.

Phillips has made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season and admitted last month he is looking to play regularly to retain his place in Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his squad but FFP rules mean he may have to wait until the summer and Tottenham are planning a winter clearout with three senior players being told they can leave next month.

Below, Mail Sport takes a look at all the latest news and gossip on Thursday.
