Jack Grealish reveals James Maddison is ‘constantly’ active in the ‘Avengers’ WhatsApp group chat

Jack Grealish claims James Maddison is ‘constantly’ messaging in the infamous ‘Avengers’ group chat consisting of the best British midfielders in the Premier League.

It was revealed last year that Grealish and Maddison were part of the secret WhatsApp group that also includes Chelsea‘s Ben Chilwell, Tottenham‘s Dele Alli as well as Aston Villa duo John McGinn and Ross Barkley.

Members of the group have celebrated Premier League goals this season with the ‘A’ celebration and Villa captain Grealish has lifted the lid on who is more active on the group compared to others.

When asked who is more vocal in the group chat, Grealish told UMM’s ‘Assumptions’ show: ‘Me or Madders. On that point (Maddison) is on the group chat 24/7. Someone writes in it and then bam, he’s ready straight away. Constantly in there.

‘Then there’s people like Chilly (Ben Chilwell), he’d be online and he wouldn’t read it.’

Grealish also revealed that a winter trip to Dubai last season sparked the beginning of the Avengers group chat that has brought the promising midfielders together despite their different club alliances.

However, the 25-year-old Villa star admits he has never seen the smash-hit Marvel film series despite it being the name of their WhatsApp group.

Speaking about how the group started, Grealish added: ‘It was when we went to Dubai last year on that winter break. Have you watched the film Avengers? I haven’t. But that’s like loads of people or something, like a group?

‘I didn’t even know that (the Avengers film is an elite group of individuals). I don’t even know who put it together actually.’

‘Avengers’ trio Grealish, Madisson and Chilwell could be key players for England this summer as the European Championship move ever closer.

Grealish and Chilwell have been part of Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squads recently while Maddison could receive a chance if he continues his promising rise in Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City side.

Villa midfielder McGinn will likely feature for Scotland in their first major tournament in 30 years, while Barkley and Alli have outside chances of making Southgate’s England squad this summer.

Maddison revealed last year that his relationship with former Foxes defender and fellow group member Chilwell has been an important one for him in his career.

Speaking about the defender, who moved to Chelsea for £50million last summer, Maddison told EA Sports: ‘Obviously he was my best friend here and welcomed me into the club, I knew him through the England Under-21s and the England set-up anyway,’ Maddison says.

‘You just have that one guy [at clubs] who’s like your best friend who you’ll have a coffee with, you’ll see outside of football and stuff and that was Chilly [Chilwell] for me. We built up a great relationship on and off the pitch.’
