Nick Bosa chose not to be involved in a recent pre-season game against the Las Vegas Raiders and it is a decision that could end up costing him an incredible amount of money.
Bosa has been locked in a pretty vicious contract stand-off with the San Francisco 49ers and he has been away from the team for a little while now. He missed the mandatory minicamp for the 49ers which was expected, but things could be set to escalate.
Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk has pointed out that Bosa missing the pre-season match against the Raiders could lead to him being fined, and the figure could reach almost one million dollars.
Bosa wants a new 49ers contract
Bosa has been out of the picture at the 49ers as he is seeking a new contract which they have not been willing to give to him. His rookie deal has one year left to run which is around 18 million dollars due to the fifth-year option.
Bosa wants to reset the market and sign a deal for around 30 million dollars, making him the NFL’s highest-paid edge defender and close to Aaron Donald‘s huge contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
There is a belief that these fines could be voided once a new contract is agreed and he returns to the team, given the 49ers know that he is capable of keeping in shape by himself and he will be at his best as soon as he gets back into the mix.
