Liverpool struggle to win lunchtime games, but they’ve beaten Wolves 12 times in their last 13 games in the league.

To throw another spanner in the works, though, Wolves have only scored 12 in their last 23 against Liverpool in the Premier League.

Will they buck the trend today, with Liverpool lacking Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk, or will it be more of the same for the Reds?

We’re about to find out – they’re on the way out from the tunnel.

He might not be in the side but he’s certainly making an impression on one young Wolves fan…

Liverpool are obviously the favourites going into this one – as they are against almost any team in the league.

But how do Wolves win? Well, the obvious answer is goals obviously, but they also need to try and keep the goals out their own net.

The stats show that Wolves only actually won twice in their last 37 games in which they’ve conceded at least one.goal.

In their last 14 games when they’ve conceded, Wolves have lost every one of them.

One of Liverpool’s new signings to make a good impression already is Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentine lifted the World Cup and got Brighton into Europe for the first time, but claims Klopp’s ‘desire’ to take him to Anfield proved decisive in his move.

Gary O’Neil has been talking about what it’s like taking over on the cusp of the first game of the campaign.

Remember, Julen Loptegui left the club three days before the start of the season, leaving O’Neil with little enough time to get going.

He seems optimistic about his side’s ability to test the backline today with the visitors missing ‘Trent and Virg’.

He makes a good point, though. If you’re going to take on Liverpool, it might as well be without two of their biggest stars.

But despite all the talk, Salah has shown that he’s been able to ccast it all aside and focus on his own game.

He’s now on a run of 10 consecutive goal contributions after his exploits last time out.

The last player to do that for Liverpool was… well … Salah.

His last run – between August and December 2021 – lasted 15 games – will he make it 11 today?

There was a lot of speculation about Salah’s future at Liverpool at the tail end of the transfer window.

But Klopp was quick to shut down any talk of a January exit to Al-Ittihad yesterday – and even pointed out there’s still four months or so to go until talk really needs to pick up once more about his talisman’s future.

It’s a huge day for Quansah – but maybe one to forget so far for TNT Sport’s Peter Crouch.

He may have been a world class striker in his day, but Crouchy hasn’t given the best account of himself there in the crossbar challenge…

So we mentioned that Wolves managed to pull off an impressive 3-0 win last time these two met at Molineux.

That was actually the end of a long and arduous run of six home losses on the trot, but it’s been an even longer wait for consecutive wins over the Reds at home.

The last time Wolves managed back-to-back victories was between February 1980 and August 1981, when they managed a trio of wins.

Will we see a big shock tonday?

So Darwin Nunez drops to the bench for the lunchtime kick-off.

There’s one former Reds legend though who can tell you that a tough start at Anfield is not the be all and end all of a Liverpool career.

Peter Crouch told Mail Sport that he sees plenty of similarities between himself and the young Uruguayan.

So two changes for the hosts, who bring in Bellegarde and Hwang after a defeat to Palace last time out.

For Liverpool Gravenberch starts on the bench, with Mac Allister starting despite playing in the high altitude of La Paz in midweek.

Trent comes out with injury for Quansah at the back, while Diaz and Nunez are replaced by Jota and Gakpo

Liverpool edge the head-to-head in that spell with two wins and a draw, but Wolves did pull off a 3-0 mauling of their own at Molineux… which is where this one will be played today.

The Reds have however dominated the last 11 meetings, winning nine including a a run of seven victories on the bounce.

He could get his debut today – we’ll find out in less than 10 minutes – but Ryan Gravenberch has already amde a splash at Liverpool.

Since his £35m move from Bayern Munich on deadline day, the midfielder rejected the chance to represent the Dutch U21s in the international break.

Klopp mentioned in his presser yesterday that it allowed the youngster to get to grips with his new home, but the Dutch management weren’t best pleased with the call from Gravenberch…

The 12.30pm game has been… trying for Liverpool fans over the last 12 months, shall we say?

Jurgen Klopp didn’t particularly warm to questioning about his side’s form in the early kick-off last term.
