A murder investigation is underway in Bradford following the tragic death of a woman in her 20s.
Detectives from West Yorkshire Police have cordoned off the junction of Westgate with Drewton Road following an incident which saw a 27-year-old woman stabbed in broad daylight. A spokesperson for the force said the woman died in hospital following the stabbing. A man fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended.
Police were called to the scene at 3.21pm on Saturday, April 6. The woman is yet to be formally identified but her family has been informed.

Officers were called to the junction of Westgate and Drewton Road on Saturday, April 6 following reports that a woman had been stabbed by a man who then fled the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry team said: “This is a shocking incident that has happened in broad daylight in a busy area of Bradford and been witnessed by a number of people…
“To help us with this we are urging anyone who was in the area who may have dashcam footage or seen or heard something, however small it may seem, to please come forward. A scene remains in place which includes some road closures and I thank the public for their patience while we conduct our enquiries.”
Victim
West Yorkshire Police says formal identification has not been made but the victim is understood to be a 27-year-old woman. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The scene
A large cordon has been placed around the junction at Westgate and Drewton Road, and further up, covering a green area on St Thomas’ Road. Five police cars, two vans and an unmarked police vehicle were observed guarding the scene alongside stationed officers.
Businesses around and inside the cordon were closed early on Sunday.
Manhunt
West Yorkshire Police says it has extensive ongoing enquiries to locate and arrest the man responsible. It has been said he fled the scene following the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “A young woman has lost her life in the most awful circumstances, and we have extensive enquiries ongoing to locate and arrest the man responsible.
“We understand that this incident will understandably cause concern in the local community, and I would like to reassure the wider public that we are working tirelessly to investigate this horrendous crime and bring the person responsible to justice.”
