Opening statements in the case of accused missing campers’ killer Gregory Lynn are set to be outlined to a Supreme Court jury for the first time on Friday, day one of the airline pilot’s murder trial.
On Thursday, Lynn, 57, pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder over the deaths of Russell Hill, 74, and Carol Clay, 73, as a 14-person jury was selected.
The Age will bring you regular updates of the trial when it starts from 10.30am.
Daniel Porceddu is representing the prosecution and Dermot Dann, KC, is representing Lynn.
Lynn is accused of killing Hill and Clay at Wonnangatta Valley, in the state’s Alpine region, in March 2020.
The prosecution alleges all three were camping at Bucks Camp in the valley when the killings occurred.
In directions to the jury, Justice Michael Croucher said that to convict Lynn, the prosecution must prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, the highest standard of proof Victoria’s law required.
The trial is expected to take between four and six weeks.
