Khabib BACKS Conor McGregor but insists Dustin Poirier can pull-off shock in the later rounds

Khabib Nurmagomedov has weighed-in with his prediction for Conor McGregor‘s clash with Dustin Poirier, backing his hated rival for an early knock-out victory.

The reigning lightweight champion has fought and crushed both men, submitting the American in round three, the Irishman in the fourth.

Nurmagomedov retired in October last year after another dominant submission victory over Justin Gaethje. McGregor is desperate for a rematch with the Russian, who has insisted a lightweight contender must ‘impress’ him out of retirement.

That’s what McGregor will aim to do in the early hours of Sunday morning, with the ‘Notorious’ looking and talking like he’s in phenomenal shape, ready to put on a ‘masterpiece.’

‘Just two rounds – Conor,’ the Russian predicted on the UFC’s Lookin’ For a Fight series.

‘Early, it’s Conor. But, third round, number four, I think Dustin can beat this guy.’

While McGregor used to blast Nurmagomedov’s ‘glass jaw’, the Russian has often questioned McGregor’s fitness and his ability to thrive deep into a fight.

The Dubliner dismissed more questions over his cardio in the build-up, calling the claims a ‘myth.’

‘I hope we can answer it, and I will answer it in time. I will at some stage,’ he said at the pre-fight press conference.
