The NFL has been accused of rigging the postseason in favor of the San Francisco 49ers after they defeated the Green Bay Packers 24-21 at the Levi’s Stadium.

Christian McCaffrey, once again, stepped up for the Californian team by scoring two touchdowns as his side got out of jail after trailing 21-14 with one quarter left. Now they’re just one game away from a Super Bowl appearance and they will wait to see who they play in the NFC Conference game.
Despite that, there is criticism that the NFL and the sport is favoring the 49ers after a controversial call by the umpires in the first half of the game against the Packers.
The moment came when Jordan Love‘s side was in the redzone and the quarterback attempted to be coy in a fourth-and-one situation, looking for a first-and-goal play. However, referees called the play short resulting in a 49ers turnover on downs.
From that play, the 49ers went and scored their first touchdown of the game to make it 7-3 from a position where they could have feasibly been 10-0 down to the visiting side, leaving fans furious.
One user wrote on X.com, formerly Twitter, “It’s official the @nfl is rigged.”
A second concurred, writing: “The NFL is the biggest rigged sports propaganda of all time.”
A third shared the sentiment by saying: “Rigged NFL wanted the 49ers to win this game by any means necessary from the get go.”
Sport’s fine moments
Although they’re the top seed from the NFC, the 49ers were on the ropes for much of the game against a side that had to be taken seriously after crushing the Dallas Cowboys in the previous round.
And, as many sports figures will tell you, contests can come down to slender moments rather than overarching stories and plays. That’s exactly what happened in the Bay Area on Saturday night.
Whilst leading 21-17, Anders Carslon missed a field goal attempt that would’ve extended their lead to seven points, worth one touchdown. That failed kick was all the 49ers quarterback, Brock Purdy, needed to take over.
He carefully threaded the 49ers up the field, one pass at a time, putting McCaffrey in range to score a game-winning rushing touchdown that saw the Californians progress and the Wisconsin side left dreaming of what might have been.
