Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over in-form Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Pape Sarr, Son Hueng-min and Richarlison saw Ange Postecoglou‘s side move to within one point of rivals Arsenal, who fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Fulham.

While Bournemouth looked impressive, Spurs showed their qualities as they brushed aside the visitors to see out 2023 with a comfortable victory.

The Cherries will not be too disheartened, as things look positive for them heading into the New Year under Andoni Iraola.

Mail Sport’s KATHRYN BATTE takes a look at some of things you may have missed.

Son’s back to his best

Heung-min Son has now exceeded his Premier League goals and assists tally from last season.

The forward now has 12 goals and five assists in 20 appearances compared to his 10 goals and six assists for the 2022-2023 campaign.

Only Manchester City striker Erling Haalalnd has more goals in the Premier League this season. Son was also directly involved in 24 goals in 2023.

New Year, New Spurs

Before their win over Bournemouth, Tottenham had failed to win their last league outing in each of the past five calendar years.

Their previous victory came when they beat Southampton 5-2 in 2017.

Son was on target that day too, with Harry Kane netting a hat-trick alongside a Dele Alli strike.

 Littler looks on

Fresh from his victory over Raymond van Barneveld in the PDC world championship, 16-year-old Luke Littler was in attendance to watch Tottenham as a guest of darts enthusiast James Maddison.

The pair posed for a photo imitating a darts throw, which is also Maddison’s goal celebration.

Littler, a Manchester United fan, is not short of supporters having been asked for a picture by Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Aaron Ramsdale last week.

Ange is a breath of fresh air for Spurs

Ange Postecoglou has brought an entertaining brand of football to north London and the match saw Spurs equal their longest streak of scoring in consecutive league matches (32) set from April to December, 1949 in the second tier and matched from February to November in 1962 in the top flight.

Farewell, Hugo!

After sealing a move to MLS side Los Angeles FC, Hugo Lloris was given a fitting send off at half-time.

The goalkeeper and former captain made 447 appearances, the seventh highest in Spurs history, during his 11 years with the club. Lloris predicted a ‘bright future’ for Spurs as he was presented with a special Spurs trophy by Ledley King.

He also praised the club’s supporters, with a parting tribute: ‘It’s time for me to say goodbye, but it’s goodbye from the player not from the man. I will be a Spurs man for the rest of my life.’

Scott to be kidding me

Alex Scott’s second half strike made him the first Guernsey-born player to score in the Premier League since Matt Le Tissier.

Scott struck in the 84th minute, 22 years after Le Tissier’s final top-flight goal for Southampton, which came against Arsenal in 2001.

Dom couldn’t ‘nic a goal

Dominic Solanke has been in fine form for Bournemouth but, despite peppering Tottenham’s goal, he was unable to find the net.

The forward took nine shots in 90 minutes, only three less than the entire Spurs team combined.

In Rich form

It seems there is no place like home for Richarlison.

The striker has now been involved in eight goals in his last seven matches at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The forward has scored five goals since the start of December, only Solanke (6) has scored more goals than the Brazilian.
