Hawthorn skipper James Sicily has been handed a one-match suspension for kicking at Essendon’s Andrew McGarth during Saturday’s melee, while Bombers Mason Redman has also been handed a one-match ban for striking Hawk Jai Newcombe.

Newcombe received a fine for forceful front-on contact and Bomber Todd Goldstein was fined for striking.

Gold Coast’s Malcolm Rosas Jnr has also been given a one-match suspension for a headbutt at Adelaide’s Max Michalanney.

Here’s the vision from the Bombers, Hawks game, thanks to the AFL:

Well after the hot start to Brisbane, where they kicked the opening four goals of the game, the Lions let the game slip away as Fremantle kicked seven in a row.

The Dockers take an 18-point lead into half-time.

How do you see the second half playing out from here? Will Brisbane get back on top, or will Fremantle keep riding this wave?

Well, the Dockers are flying. They’ve kicked the last six goals of the game and now it’s the Lions who can’t get hands to the ball or any control of this game.

The last two goals came from Michael Walters and Jye Amiss.

This game has done a complete 180-degree turn. Earlier I said Chris Fagan wouldn’t have any complaints with how the game started – I think he might have a few now.

While things were looking dicey for Fremantle early – down by four goals to start the opening term and unable to hit the scoreboard – there’s been a change of tune to this game as it’s all started at the contest.

The Dockers have started to get on top at stoppages and win the clearances, meaning hands to the ball, meaning more chances to get it into the hands of their forwards. And bang, suddenly it’s all square on the scoreboard.

Fremantle have now gone of their own four-goal run, the last off the boot of Josh Treacy. And there’s some feeling in this game between the two sides.

It’s 28-points a piece. Exciting!

Luke Jackson has pulled in a mark and snapped a goal from the pocket.

Lions ruckman Oscar McInerney had no way of chasing him down, he is clearly a ruckman, not a key defender.

Freo have come to life late in the first with Bailey Banfield snapping a goal late in the first term.

The Dockers were poor early with their errors helping the Lions burst out to a lead but they have found something late on.

Sam Switkowski snapped another goal with 23 seconds to go.

Nat Fyfe and some of the Lions enjoyed some push, shove and jumper tearing at the end of the quarter.

Brisbane are off to an absolute flyer. Eric Hipwood opened the evening with back-to-back goals, before Dayne Zorko, then Zac Bailey, joined the party. All while Fremantle are yet to register a major on the board.

You wouldn’t think Chris Fagan would have too many complaints about how this game has kicked off.

It’s a great start for the Brisbane Lions with Eric Hipwood getting the first two goals of the evening against Fremantle.

Brisbane went down to Carlton in the opening round by less than a goal, so they’ll be hungry to get one back tonight.

For Fremantle, it’s a first look at their 2024 campaign after they finished 14th last year.

Port Adelaide are leaving round one with four points and a healthy percentage after downing West Coast by 50 points. But the Power has one major thing to work on.

While they kicked 16 goals (very nice), they also put through 24 behinds (not so nice), which is the most for any Power game.

With Harley Reid on the park, the commentators talked a lot about the future of the game – it’s in good hands! The 18-year-old had 16 possessions, 9 of those contested, and four score involvements.

But it was the Power midfield who were a formidable force, including Zak Butters, Connor Rozee, Ollie Wines and Jason Horne-Francis. Port also had nine individual goalscorers.

Port Adelaide defeated West Coast 16.24 (120) to 10.10 (70).

Port Adelaide’s Jed McEntee has been subbed out of the game with concussion after a heavy collision with West Coast’s Bailey Williams.

Frank Evans has been subbed on to replace him.

Power lead the Eagles by 40-points with just over 11 minutes left on the clock.

Port Adelaide have asserted their dominance over West Coast at Adelaide Oval and head into the final break of the match with a 32-point lead.

While the scoreboard is looking how many predicted, Port only managed to extended the margin by a point in the third quarter. The Eagles, while down, are putting up a good fight.

Power’s Connor Rozee, Zak Butters and Dan Houston have been tremendous and are giving the rest of the comp something to worry about, while Charlie Dixon is the goalscorer leader with three majors.

Meanwhile, there are no late changes ahead of the Fremantle and Brisbane clash. The subs are Neil Erasmus for Fremantle and Kai Lohmann for Brisbane.
