Mauricio Pochettino outlined his desperation to break his trophy duck in England after leading Chelsea into the Carabao Cup final.

Chelsea will face Fulham or Liverpool in their 10th League Cup final on February 25th after overturning a one-goal first leg deficit against Championship Middlesbrough with a ruthless 6-1 second leg victory.

Pochettino is now one more win away from lifting his first piece of silverware with an English club after losing Carabao Cup and Champions League finals during his Tottenham reign.

He said: ‘I’m desperate to win a title here. We won, in one-and-a-half years in Paris, three trophies and we want to win here.

‘I’m desperate to win of course. It’s really important for us.’

Pochettino also believes the experience of going to Wembley could be vital for the development of his squad.

‘This young team with this type of experience, to go to Wembley, we are going to build our trust and confidence and our mentality like a team.

‘Not like a club because Chelsea, the mentality of the club, is amazing. The culture to win.

‘But we are a new team that we need to build the confidence and trust and feel what it means to go to Wembley and play a final.’

Chelsea blew sloppy Boro away with four first half goals and two more in the second before a late consolation from Aston Villa target Morgan Rogers, who manager Michael Carrick insisted he has no reason to believe he will lose this month.

Carrick added: ‘It was ruthless. Pretty hard and pretty brutal. Couple of mistakes and they punished us.’
