After several contentious decisions on the night that went against her side, Mulkey’s furious protests saw her be sent off by the referee. Videos filmed from the stands captured the incident in its entirety, and the chaos that ensued after Mulkey’s outburst is particularly eye-catching.
In the clips, the coach can be seen storming onto the court to demand an explanation from officials. As she made her way towards them, LSU star Angel Reese intervened, trying to calm her coach down. Despite towering over her, Reese struggled to contain Mulkey who was possessed by her rage.
“It was actually kind of fun,” said Angel Reese after the game, with her coach sitting next to her. “We both have similar personalities and we both like to win no matter the score and of course she’s going to fight for us and we’re going to fight for her. So, that moment was fun because we know she’s got our backs and we’ve got hers”.
