Helen Skelton’s claims on BBC’s The One Show this evening (Friday), were branded “fake news” by a fellow celeb as she told viewers they could “freeze sandwiches to save time”.

Helen has been given a permanent hosting role on Morning Live alongside Gethin Jones. The daily show shares “conversation, tips and advice to make your life a little easier”.

Appearing on tonight’s episode of The One Show to chat to hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones about her new role, Helen was asked what her favourite tip from the show was so far.

The TV presenter’s response was met with shock, as she confessed that before working on the show, she never knew that you could freeze sandwiches. She said: “I’ve always been the kind of person who freezes a lot of stuff because it just makes life easier – milk for instance, but you can freeze sandwiches and it saves so much time when it comes to making the kids packed lunches and things like that.

“Have a day when you make all the packed lunches and all the dinners – you save so much time.” But Joe Lycett was quick to brand the presenter’s claims as “fake news”.

The comedian, who was also a guest on this evening’s episode of the BBC show, said: “I don’t think you can freeze sandwiches. I’m disputing that – fake news.” Helen was quick to laugh off Joe’s remarks, saying that sometimes when she comes into work, “she can’t believe what she’s talking about herself.”

She also warned viewers not to dry clothes on the radiator, as it can make the rest of the room damp and isn’t energy efficient.

Talking about the excitement surrounding her new role, Helen said it was a “privilege to be a part of the team” and that the job “didn’t feel like work” as she gets to spend time with her friends, whilst sharing tips that “make people’s lives easier.”

Morning Live returns to our screens at 9.30am on Monday, April 8 on BBC One .
