In what will surely be one of the most remembered scenes from tropical storm Hilary in Southern California will be Dodger Stadium completely surrounded by water.
A video that quickly became viral, the iconic baseball house of the Los Angeles Dodgers appears to look like a lake as water flooded the building’s parking lot.
Stadium shot representative of state-wide chaos
Hilary dropped a year’s worth of rain in several parts of Southern California.
The National Weather Service has reported record-high rainfall in areas like the desert near Palm Springs and the San Bernardino mountains east of Los Angeles.
The state, which usually has a dry climate, is still under a warning advisory due to potential mudslides and flash floods.
Thousands if not millions of California residents went without power on Sunday as wind and heavy rain downed power lines.
Dodgers update on stadium’s condition
After the video of Dodger Stadium’s parking lot underwater went viral, the team posted a photo update on their social media channels putting concerns to rest that the iconic 1962 stadium had suffered damage during the tropical storm.
The Dodgers post went even further by posting a cheeky caption along with the photos saying “Dodger Stadium trending? We get it. It looks beautiful this morning.”
The next game to be played at the stadium is scheduled until next Monday, August 28, when the team will host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a 3-game series.
