Devin Haney thinks that Canelo Alvarez is in no rush to get in the ring with David Benavidez, but isn’t ‘ducking’ the fight as many have claimed.
Boxing fans around the world have been desperate to see Canelo take on Benavidez as soon as possible, but there has been very little from Canelo’s camp to suggest that it will happen any time soon.

Since his win over Demetrius Andrade in November, Canelo has been viewed as the obvious next opponent for Benavidez, who is the undisputed super middleweight champion.
Canelo was asked about the fight recently but he demanded a $150-200 million payout for it, which was taken as a way of getting away from the topic.
Haney discusses Canelo vs Benavidez
Speaking to Fight Hub TV recently, Haney suggested something different.
“I’m not going to say that he’s ducking him because we [have] seen Canelo’s resume. But is he in a rush to get in the ring with him? I don’t think so. I think he sees easier fights out there,” Haney said.
Haney did go on to say that he would definitely love to see it happen: “If that number is realistic, Benavidez, I think [is] one of the best in the sport right now. He’s on top of his game. That’s a fight that I would love to see.”
Benavidez seems to be focusing his attention elsewhere given Canelo’s reluctance, but he did make his feelings known on the FreshandFit podcast recently about the money Canelo is asking for.
“Canelo is with this bulls**t, ‘He needs to be respectful.’ I’m not going to bow my knee to nobody because I’ve earned my shot for the belts,” said Benavidez.
“The only reason this fight isn’t happening is because he wants 150 to 200 million, which is absurd. Not even the promotional company makes money like that.”
