The Giants have the slight ascendancy.

It’s pretty clear that GWS are going after Lions champion Lachie Neale, creating some niggle in the contest. It’s having some impact, too — Neale has 13 touches, but hasn’t had a major impact on the contest to date.

One player who has been extremely physical is the Giants’ ruckman Kieren Briggs, who has seven clearances to half-time. His opponent Darcy Fort is battling away, but the Lions really are missing “The Big O”, Oscar McInerney, out due to concussion.

GWS are ahead largely due to their greater efficiency with ball in hand. The Lions are leading the inside-50 count 31—23, but haven’t been able to finish. That’s been a theme for them so far this year.
