New England Revolution take on Philadelphia Union in game two in MLS Cup playoffs action, with Jim Curtin’s side holding a 1-0 advantage in the series.

The Union stormed out of the gate in game one, scoring three first-half goals in an 18-minute span before halftime. Daniel Gazdag, Mikael Uhre and Nathan Harriel were all on the scoresheet to give the home side a sizable advantage heading into the break at Subaru Park.

New England pulled one back in the second half, as Gustavo Bou scored with roughly 20 minutes remaining in normal time, but the Revs weren’t able to build on that moment and fell 3-1. It’s now do-or-die for the Revs, while the Union can clinch a spot in the next round of the playoffs with a win at Gillette Stadium.

Revs top goal scorer and assists leader Carles Gil is set to return to action after coming off the field in the 23rd minute in game one due to injury. But New England interim boss Clint Peay confirmed that he’s good to go for game two, a huge boost for the Revs.

Ian Harkes is a doubt for the clash with a heafy injury, while Damian Rivera’s knee problem is expected to sideline him for the game. Harkes plays primarily as a creative midfielder, the space that Gil typically occupies, while Rivera is still coming through the Revs ranks and Peay will therefore look to rely on the likes of Nacho Gil and Emmanuel Boateng in his absence.

New England Revolution predicted lineup vs Philadelphia Union ( 4-2-3-1 ): Jackson; Jones, Farrell, Romney, Spaulding; Buck, Kaye; Chancalay, Gil, Boateng; Bou.

Curtin’s only injury concern is Tai Baribo, who’s set to miss the clash with a back problem. Baribo is set to return to action later this month, and Curtin will look to lean on Joaquin Torres and Chris Donovan to fill in as the backup striker options.

However, one key player withing the squad won’t be traveling to Gillette Stadium and it’s not for injury reasons. Star full-back Kai Wagner, who looks set to depart the club after their season concludes, won’t travel with the team after being allegations surfaced of him using a racial slur in game one aimed at New England’s Bobby Wood.

Right-back Oliver Mbaizo may get his number called and shift to left-back due to the shortage at the position.

Philadelphia Union predicted lineup vs New England Revolution ( 4-3-1-2 ): Blake; Harriel, Elliott, Lowe, Mbaizo; McGlynn, Martinez, Bedoya; Gazdag, Carranza, Uhre.

The Revs have no choice but go all-out in search of chances and ultimately a win at home, as defeat sees them eliminated from the postseason. They have plenty of firepower up top with the likes of Gil and Bou to get the job done, while the Union’s lethal trio of their own is capable of wreaking havoc on any defense.

Already being without Jakob Glesnes for the rest of the season is a huge blow, but now losing Wagner hurts even more for Curtin’s side. Veteran goalkeeper Andre Blake will have to shoulder the load in defense if Philadelphia are to hold and sweep the Revs as he’s done time and time before. But the Revs will have enough in them to get a result over the line and force game three.

Prediction: New England Revolution 2-1 Philadelphia Union
