Manchester United‘s transfer planning for next summer is already underway despite this year’s window recently closing, according to a report.

United made seven signings in the 2023 summer transfer window, headlines by the arrivals of Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana, with the Red Devils spending surpassing £170million.

Segio Reguilon, Jonny Evans, Sofyan Amrabat and Altay Bayindir also arrived in a bid to help Erik ten Hag improve on a successful first season in charge.

The new campaign hasn’t gone to plan so far, however, with United registering two wins and two defeats from their opening four games of the season, leaving them 11th in the Premier League table.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club already have one eye on next summer as they look to strengthen their squad further in a bid to aid their desired rise further.

United are said to be targeting four major signings as ten Hag has to be patient to build his own team.

Several current players are likely playing their final seasons for the club with outgoings expected in several areas of the pitch, and the club want to strengthen at centre back, full back, centre midfield and in attack.

One of the names said to be under consideration is Brighton’s teenage sensation Evan Ferguson, who scored his first Premier League hat-trick last weekend against Newcastle in his side’s 3-1 win.

The Ireland international recently signed a new five-year contract with the Seagulls, but it is suggested that he could move on next year for a big fee.

Despite the £72million arrival of Denmark international Hojlund, who made his first appearance in United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal before the international break, ten Hag is keen to add another forward to his ranks.

The Red Devils have also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s duo Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba, while Amrabat could join on a permanent basis following his loan from Fiorentina.

In terms of outgoings, Anthony Martial could finally leave the club if he has another underwhelming season, while Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire are among those that will surely depart.

Mason Greenwood is also still technically a Manchester United player despite his loan to Getafe, and Brandon Williams, Evans, Donny van de Beek may also leave.

Jadon Sancho’s future is also up in the air after he publicly criticised Ten Hag after the Dutchman made comments on his training performance, while Antony is taking time away from the club as he faces domestic abuse allegations
