West Brom boss Carlos Corberan could face a derby dilemma as he prepares to welcome his second son.

His wife Claudia is due to give birth to a boy, who they will name Dario, in the next few days.

It would give the Spaniard a decision to make if she goes into labour on Sunday – the day of the Black Country derby with Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round.

Corberan has previous experience as, when son Marcos was born, he was in hospital with Claudia managing Huddersfield’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Barnsley from her bedside but is still planning to be on the Hawthorns touchline this weekend.

He said: ‘The due date is on February 1 and my wife has told me she doesn’t feel anything so I said be stable and that’s all. Part of my target is to always manage everything. I will try always to manage everything.

‘The last time when my first child was born was the day we played against Barnsley with Huddersfield (in February 2022). We knew, the hospital had planned the day, so the day before I needed to move to the hospital.

‘So that day I was on the laptop, talking with my staff. I didn’t have another possibility. With the laptop I moved to the comfy areas and I was there, 90 minutes on the phone with my staff.

‘When I was at Huddersfield I had Covid twice and I didn’t have another possibility (but to manage from the laptop) and the birth of my baby. I remember the draw was a Sunday and I was watching the draw (still in hospital) and we got Nottingham Forest.

‘My wife was angry because I was watching the draw on the TV.’

Corberan’s mum Amparo is over to help the family but will not attend with Claudia, although Corberan is relaxed as he looks ahead to the first derby in three years.

He added: ‘She is coming here to support my wife but not me – but always they are supporting me. I don’t need to have them in the stadium to feel the support.

‘I am very calm because I have a lot of intuition and I have the intuition that it (the birth) is not going to happen on Sunday.’

Meanwhile, winger Tom Fellows has signed a three-and-a-half year contract extension.

The 20-year-old has made 17 appearances this season, scoring twice.

‘I’m really happy to sign a new contract,’ he said. ‘I feel this is the right place for me to develop and keep improving as a player. For me, the big thing is having the opportunities to play and to keep doing well.’
