“I’ve said it before, but right here, this is the greatest quarterback in University of Michigan – college football history,” Harbaugh said.

“Got a long way to go to get where Tom Brady eventually got to, which is the GOAT.

“But in a college career there’s been nobody at Michigan better than J.J. I know we talk about it an amalgamation of quarterbacks. He is that guy.”

Harbaugh highlighted that the last quarterback to defeat Alabama in overtime was Tom Brady before McCarthy and the NFL legend didn’t hesitate to respond.

“Go Blue!!! No doubt!!!,” Brady said.

McCarthy’s solid stat-line

Despite a slow start, McCarthy delivered impressive plays when needed, including a touchdown pass to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

Michigan secured the victory in overtime, and McCarthy finished the game with 17-of-27 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

The Wolverines’ next challenge is the College Football Playoff National Championship against the Washington Huskies. McCarthy aims to prove his coach’s statement by leading Michigan to a national title.
