Channel 10 is bringing their cloak and dagger reality TV competition series The Traitors back for another season.

Despite lacklustre ratings for the show’s first season, The Traitors will return with a slightly new format that will see a mix of civilian and celebrity contestants.

The cast contains a number of extremely familiar faces that have appeared on multiple reality TV shows in the past.

Former Below Deck Mediterranean star Hannah Ferrier is the biggest name of the bunch.

She recently appeared in 10’s ill-fated dating series The Real Love Boat, which was a ratings disaster for the network last year.

Hannah is joined by Australian Survivor’s Luke Toki, who also starred on Channel Seven’s Big Brother VIP last year.

Reality TV regular Ash Pollard has also signed on following stints on My Kitchen Rules, Dancing with the Stars and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Other names include House Husbands actor Gyton Grantley, motivational speaker Paul de Gelder, and TikTok star Ian Zaro.

Channel 10 is remaining optimistic about the future of The Traitors despite the show’s slow start.

Paramount ANZ’s Daniel Monaghan told TV Tonight in January they were keen to stand by the competition series due to its critical acclaim and global success.

‘The Traitors didn’t set our world on fire last year, but it was such a well-made show…I think it deserves more attention,’ he said.

Monaghan said The Traitors ‘deserved more audience’ and praised the production company for how it put the series together.

‘I think when you put up something like The Traitors and it doesn’t do as strong numbers as you think it deserves, you’d look at the quality of the show and think, “Can you grow it?”

‘That’s what we will be evaluating…. particularly with the performance [of the UK series]. It deserves more.’

The UK version of the series, which aired on the BBC, has become the biggest reality TV hit since Love Island, with more than 3.2 million viewers tuning in for the finale.

British critics were impressed by the addictive series, with the Daily Mail’s own Christopher Stevens calling it ‘the best thing on TV for 20 years’.

American audiences have been similarly impressed after a semi-celebrity version debuted on streaming service Peacock earlier this month.

Starring a mix of civilians and stars, including Real Housewife Brandi Glanville and former Bachelor and Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, the Alan Cumming-hosted series stunned viewers and television critics alike.
