Shaughna Phillips has revealed she would never want her daughter to watch repeats of her appearance on Love Island in 2020

The reality TV star featured on the show’s inaugural winter series, which takes place in Cape Town, just weeks before the global pandemic forced everyone behind closed doors.

Featuring alongside close friend Holly Connolly on their new podcast ‘Oh Baby!’, Shaughna admitted she wasn’t keen on baby daughter Lucia – her only child – watch her escapades when she grows older.

She said: ‘I love Love Island but If I can get away with Lucia not knowing what Love Island is, I’ve won.

‘The thought of Lucia watching my Love Island season when she’s older – I will need a lot of therapy!

‘And I would do my absolute best to make sure she doesn’t even know what Love Island is.’

The influencer, who appeared on season six of the  ITV 2 reality TV dating show divulged that she does not recognise the ‘good time girl,’ she once appeared to be.

‘If I watched that season back it would just be like me watching it as a viewer. I’d be like, I don’t know these people,’ said the podcaster.

‘We’ve all grown up, we’re all just different people now.’

In a candidly honest conversation between the two mothers – who gave birth only days apart – Shaughna shared that she wears her single mother title  as ‘a badge of honour.

Lucia’s father, Billy, was charged with one count of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and one count of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs on 21 January.

‘I don’t have any guilt about being a single Mum it’s just the hand of cards that I was dealt,’ reflected the lifestyle influencer.

‘I just hope that one day Lucia doesn’t write a diss track about me!’

As long as all of her baby’s bottles are sterilised, the former Love Islander felt like ‘Mum of the year’.

Shaughna bravely revealed: ‘I feel like I’m comfortable with my feeling of not being good enough – I feel like I’ve had that feeling my whole life.’

However, the reality TV star is not tackling parenting alone with Lucia’s grandparents often offering a helping hand.

On a lighter note, the founder of fertility charity Cloud Nine, also jokingly aired her frustrations about her daughter’s first words.

‘All I get is Dada, dada and I’m like “Wow – a son would not do me dirty like this!” It’s just rude,’ joked the Love Islander.

‘I look at her and go “Mama” and she’s like “not today, probably not next month, maybe not ever”. For banter she’s probably going to say Nana first.’

Oh Baby! hosts Holly and Shaughna parenting experience couldn’t be further apart, with the reality TV star going it alone alone, while the MUA raises her child with partner, Jody.

Regardless, they say everyone is welcome to tune into their no holes barred podcast about all things  motherhood – from breastfeeding to their biggest Mum fears, and post-partum sex.

Holly said: ‘Shaughna and I are so excited to take people with us on our rollercoaster journey of being new Mums.

‘We have so much in common but couldn’t be more different when it comes to parenting.’

The first and second episode of Oh Baby with Shaughna and Holly are available on all streaming platforms.
