She often found herself taking on the role of the controller, a role that seemed to come naturally to her. She found the indulgent and dramatic behavior of others to be frivolous. Her introverted nature also made navigating the social circles she was part of challenging.

In England, she grappled with feelings of guilt associated with her affluent background, and inviting school friends over was a challenge due to her father’s infamous reputation. At the dawn of the 2000s, when reality television was beginning to gain traction, the Osbournes were already well-known.

Ozzy, the lead singer of Black Sabbath, and his wife Sharon, a renowned and revered manager of rock acts, were familiar faces in the entertainment industry. However, when MTV proposed a reality show to the family, Aimee, discovering her identity amidst the chaos of family life, found the idea unappealing.

She wanted to shield herself and her impressionable younger siblings from the public eye. Despite her concerns, the family decided to go ahead with the show. Her parents’ decision to broadcast their daily lives on television did not sit well with her, and it caused Aimee to fall into depression. She left school, moved out of her home, and sought therapy while immersing herself in a variety of pop psychology books.

She loves it – it’s how she chooses to connect with people.” She added that while her mother enjoyed the attention, she preferred to stay out of the spotlight.

In a separate interview in 2020, Aimee discussed her decision to stay out of the spotlight, despite her family’s fame. “I had grown up around a pretty well-known dad and I still always valued my privacy within that family,” she explained. She expressed her desire to develop as an individual, rather than being always remembered for being a teenager.

She felt that her decision aligned with her future aspirations and was right for her, even though the rest of her family had chosen a different path. Aimee also shared her reasons for not participating in the reality show at 15.

She also shared that another reason for not being on reality television as a teenager was the constant scrutiny, stating, “Everywhere you went people wanted to know everything, and that when you’re growing up that can be kind of intimidating. Nobody at fifteen wants anybody to see how goofy their parents are.”
