Lionel Messi has been named to the latest Argentina squad despite his recent injury struggles.

The Inter Miami star has missed the last four contests with a muscle problem.

He last appeared for the club on September 20.

Argentina are set to host Paraguay next Thursday in a World Cup qualifier before travelling to Peru on October 17.

Messi’s club was thrashed without him on Wednesday night as they lost 4-1 to the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field.

The loss leaves the Herons five points adrift of a postseason place with just three more games to play.

Unsurprisingly, Miami has struggled without its talisman in the lineup.

The club has drawn twice and lost twice – including in the US Open Cup Final – since the Argentine departed the 4-0 win vs. Toronto on September 20.

Argentina won its first two World Cup qualifiers last month, beating Ecuador 1-0 and Bolivia 3-0.

Fellow MLS star Thiago Almada, who plays for Atlanta United, was also named in this Argentina squad.

Messi buoyed Miami to its first trophy in the Leagues Cup, and has 11 goals in all competitions, but his impact in MLS specifically has been smaller.

He’s appeared in the competition just four times due to his recent injury struggles and being away with Argentina on international duty last month.

The Herons’ next game – with or without their No. 10 – will be at home vs. FC Cincinnati.
