At 7.52pm local time on Friday night, the Bayern Munich fans cheered as a red Audi pulled up at a Munich medical centre and Harry Kane finally sealed his stunning £100million move from Tottenham.

After a chaotic day that saw Kane twice postpone his private jet flight, he eventually touched down amid tumultuous scenes and headed for the Barmherzige Bruder hospital to complete a medical and finalise his transfer.

Kane, who will sign a four-year deal with Bayern worth around £400,000 a week, could even win his first trophy on Saturday night, with head coach Thomas Tuchel considering thrusting him straight into action against RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.

The England captain, 30, finally departed for Bavaria from London Stansted’s Harrods Aviation private terminal at around 4.45pm, despite having originally been scheduled to arrive in Munich at 10am on Friday.

He had then been due to fly out just after noon but missed that departure slot as well, amid claims from well-placed sources that Spurs were trying to renegotiate certain aspects of their agreement with Bayern at the last minute.

Tottenham insisted just before 9am that Kane did have permission to fly to Munich as they looked to distance themselves from any criticism for breaking business code practices.

But sources in Germany and England insist yesterday’s delays were a result of Spurs ‘moving the goalposts’ on the agreements in relation to Kane’s departure.

Kane was eventually cleared to travel at around 2.30pm, arriving at the airport accompanied by wife Kate, brother Charlie and father Pat at 4pm.

Bayern fans, nervously following the on-off transfer all day, had gathered at the medical centre to greet their new star striker, where Kane’s private jet touched down at 7.07pm local time.

And then 45 minutes later, as he arrived at the hospital, the German giants could finally believe a dramatic summer of negotiations was drawing to a close. There was a palpable sense of relief in Munich among senior executives that the biggest transfer in Bundesliga history had been resolved at last.

Bayern would need to adhere to strict player registration rules in order to make Kane eligible for this evening’s German Super Cup at the Allianz Arena. Kane, despite his lack of preparation time with Bayern, is open to featuring.

If he plays against Leipzig, Kane could win his first career trophy merely 24 hours after leaving Tottenham. The optics of that scenario were not lost on Spurs chiefs on Friday. We reported on Friday morning that Bayern were hopeful of concluding their swoop for Kane following crucial talks between the two clubs on Thursday night.

Bayern had agreed a £100m deal for Kane on Wednesday night, but the German champions were left waiting to complete the transfer amid concern within the club that the deal was stalling.

Those delays continued into Friday morning, a situation that created tensions between all parties involved in negotiations.

But eventually the deal went through and so Kane leaves Tottenham as the club’s all-time leading scorer and a club legend.

The England captain will have to shelve his ambition to become the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer for now. His 30-goal haul for Spurs last season leaves him needing 48 more to overtake Alan Shearer’s tally of 260.

There had been indications that Spurs were interested in including a buy-back clause in the deal with Bayern, which would provide Kane with another chance to beat Shearer’s record.

It remains to be seen, though, if Kane would consider a future return to north London following the events of the past 24 hours.
