On the evening of May 3, 2007, Madeleine McCann, then 3 years old, vanished from her vacation rental in Praia da Luz, Portugal. According to the story, she was with her younger twin siblings while her parents were out eating dinner close by while she was with them.

The old case from 2007 caught the attention as a Polish woman named Julia Wendel came forward claiming that she was the missing girl. She has shared unsubstantiated claims on social media saying that she is Madeleine McCann, says that she hopes to be in contact with Kate and Gerry McCann in the coming days.
Earlier she had claimed that she will take a DNA test and later even updated that the DNA test has confirmed. This week, Julia became famous for starting the Instagram account @iammadeleinemcann, where she claimed she first began to wonder if she was Maddie “a few months ago” after learning “something” from her grandmother.
Also, the teenager claims to have Madeleine’s freckle on her thigh and a blemish in her eye. But, German investigators think Christian Brueckner killed Maddie. But the child’s body has never been discovered despite intensive searches and numerous police inquiries.
Many have been using social media in recent months to display their resemblance to Maddie as part of a trend. The most recent unfounded accusations were made on TikTok and Instagram by Ms. Wendell, who claimed that she had “proof” that Maddie was the same person by comparing her images to those of Maddie.
She now claims that the McCanns approached her about doing a DNA test, and she anticipates speaking with them directly in the near days.
The woman claimed on her IG story: “I talked with someone from Madeleine’s family and I will have a possibility to talk with Madeleine’s parents tomorrow and DNA test will be done soon.”
According to Daily Star Sunday a source close to the McCanns revealed: “The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads. It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up.”
The woman wrote in a recent post that she had spoken to a person who was allegedly Madeleine’s cousin and that they had told her she might be able to contact Kate and Gerry McCann to set up a DNA test. The family of Madeleine has not yet responded to these allegations.
One Reddit thread titled “Thoughts on Julia Faustyna” asked users for their respective opinions on the legitimacy of Julia’s claims.

I mean don’t get me wrong a lot of things make sense and she’s definitely been through some shit but I just can’t see it being true that she’s Maddy.”
