Who is Robert Capron?
Robert B. Capron was born in Providence, Rhode Island USA, on 9 July 1998 – his zodiac sign is Cancer, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor and director, who’s appeared in more than 20 movies and TV series, while he’s probably still known best for his portrayal of one of the lead characters, Rowley Jefferson, in the 2010 family comedy movie “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. It was directed by Thor Freudenthal, also starred Zachary Gordon and Rachael Harris, and follows a 12 years old boy who has just transitioned from elementary to middle school; the movie won five of the 14 awards for which it was nominated. Robert reprised his role in the sequels “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” in 2011 and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” in 2012.
There are rumors circulating the internet, claiming that Robert has disappeared from the film industry, however, he’s still quite active, and is currently shooting for the upcoming comedy movie “Growing Up Gorman”.
Early life and education
Robert was raised in Providence by his father about whom nothing’s known, as Robert respects his privacy, and his mother Kaye Capron who’s also an actress, and played Robert’s mother in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. Because he hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most people believe Robert to be an only child.
Robert became interested in acting at a very early age, and after having noticed his passion, his parents began taking him to auditions. He was 11 years old when he made his debut film appearance in the 2009 hit romantic comedy “Bride Wars”, directed by Gary Winick, and which starred Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Candice Bergen.
It follows two friends who have scheduled their weddings on the same day, and the movie won one of the nine awards for which it was nominated.
Robert then continued acting throughout his entire education, and upon matriculating from a local high school in 2016, he enrolled at Brown University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in modern culture and media in 2020.
Roles in movies
In 2009, Robert played an extra in the critically acclaimed biographical family drama “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale”, directed by Lasse Hallström, and which starred Richard Gere, Joan Allen and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. The movie follows a college professor who has rescued an Akita puppy, and it was nominated for a 2010 Russian National Movie Georges Award for Best Foreign Drama Movie.

A couple of Robert’s following roles were in the 2010 family action adventure “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, the 2012 family comedy “The Three Stooges” and the 2012 animated comedy drama “Frankenweenie” (voice role). The year 2013 saw him play Kyle in the popular comedy drama “The Way Way Back”, written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, and which starred Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Allison Janney. It follows the 14-year-old Duncan who has gone on a vacation with his mother, her boyfriend and the boyfriend’s daughter, while Duncan has now befriended Owen, the manager of the water park Water Wizz; the movie won five of the 35 awards for which it was nominated.
Three of Robert’s most recent film roles have been in the 2020 shorts “Growing Pains” and “A Different Kind of Animal”, and the 2021 short drama “Bye Bye Buddy”.
Roles in TV series
Robert has appeared in only four TV series, making his debut appearance in the 2012 episode “Get Your Business Done” of the hit family comedy “The Middle”. It was created by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, starred Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn and Charlie McDermott, and follows the lives of a woman and her dysfunctional family; the series aired from 2009 to 2018, and won 14 of the 52 awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.
Robert played Lex Johnson in the 2012 episode “The Cast” of the short action adventure “R. L. Stine’s the Haunting Hour”, and between 2014 and 2018, he played the supporting character Mason in the popular mystery crime drama “Elementary”.
It was created by Robert Doherty, starred Johnny Lee Miller and Aidan Quinn, and follows the detective Sherlock Holmes while he’s working in New York City.
Most recently, in 2021, Robert voiced Rowley Jefferson in an episode of the animated comedy “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”.

Some of Robert’s fans believe him to be gay, and this to be the reason behind him not speaking of the girls whom he has been with; a fan has also claimed to have seen Robert spending time with his boyfriend, but no evidence has been provided to support these claims, nor has Robert addressed these rumors.
There are also those who believe that he’s today dating a non-celebrity American girl, but prefers to keep her away from the media’s attention; this hasn’t been confirmed either.
