Everyone knows it, yet we still have to wait a few more days for it to become truly official: Caleb Williams is going to be the new franchise quarterback for the Chicago Bears.
On his recent appearance on The Pivot, Williams was asked about the moment when the Bears traded away former high draft pick Justin Fields. Williams says it triggered a ton of phone calls and messages for him.

And then he explained how that was the moment he knew the Bears thing was very real.
I end up calling a couple of people and was like, ‘Well, we know where [the Chicago Bears’] mind and heart is at at this instance, let’s prepare, get ready and handle things accordingly’. And still do our due diligence on the situation, but in that moment it was like ‘wow’. Because I didn’t do my Top 30 visit (with them) yet, they didn’t have my medical.
Williams sounded like a man who knows exactly where he’ll be moving to next. And it sounds like he’s known it for a while, regardless of whether he had done his official visit with the team or not.
During the college football season, there appeared to be a real battle between Williams and Drake Maye to be the projected No. 1 overall pick for 2024. But Williams has been the strong favorite since the turn of the year.
