Caitlin Clark has been on a whirlwind journey since being selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and she’s been embracing every moment of it. Despite the exhaustion, she’s been relishing in the excitement of her newfound status as a professional athlete.

In a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Clark shared that she’s been operating on minimal sleep since the draft, with a hectic schedule that has taken her from New York to Los Angeles and back to Indianapolis.

Following her attention-grabbing appearance at the draft in a stunning Prada outfit that nearly broke the internet, Clark unwound with cocktails at The Fleur Room, a chic rooftop lounge in Manhattan, alongside her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, and former Iowa teammates.

“It’s been a whirlwind. … I feel like I’ve tried to do my best,” Clark said

“I think that’s the biggest piece of advice [retired WNBA legend] Sue Bird gave me is, ‘Just take a breath, soak it in. You only get drafted one time, you only get these moments once, so you need to enjoy it. You can’t go back and do this ever again.’

“I haven’t slept much, which is maybe a good thing, maybe a bad thing – I don’t know. We’ve been having fun and enjoying every single second. I think the biggest thing is how quick of a turnaround it is. It’ll be a big adjustment, I think I’ll be moving here in a like a week.”

A hectic schedule

The following day, Clark was up bright and early for a sit-down interview on “Good Morning America” in Times Square. Then, she returned to Indianapolis for an introductory press conference with the Fever, bringing her whirlwind weekend full circle.

Reflecting on her journey, she recounted the excitement of her surprise cameo on “Saturday Night Live,” which kicked off her eventful weekend with a memorable red-eye flight to the set.

“I actually flew from L.A. to New York and I went right to the set and I woke up at 7 a.m. in L.A., and I went right to set and obviously the show doesn’t start until 23:30 so I was just chugging Coke [Coca Cola] all night trying to stay awake, coffee, soda,” Clark said.

“But it was fun.”
