Jurgen Klopp asked a television reporter ‘what’s wrong with you’ in a tense confrontation after angrily storming out of an interview following Liverpool‘s FA Cup loss to Manchester United.

The Liverpool manager took offence at a question about his side’s intensity from Danish V Sports commentator Niels Christian Frederiksen, calling it ‘stupid.’

Klopp added he was ‘really disappointed’ with the question having pointed out the quantity of matches Liverpool have played recently.

The German then told the reporter ‘you’re obviously not in great shape’ before storming off and new footage of the aftermath shows how their exchange carried on.

‘Such a question you’re talking about… what is wrong with you? What did you want from that?’ Klopp asks after barging past Frederiksen.

Standing his ground, the journalist asks: ‘How come you’re so provocative?’

But Klopp had already left the broadcast position, leaving the reporter standing as the camera continued to record.

It came after United wrecked Klopp’s hopes of signing off at Anfield with a trophy quadruple after Amad Diallo’s dramatic late winner in extra time sealed a 4-3 United victory.

In the interview on the Viaplay network in Scandinavia, Frederiksen asked: ‘Normally, intensity is a big part of your game, so how come it was so difficult in extra time?’

Klopp replied: ‘That’s a bit of a dumb question. If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy.

‘I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. That’s sport.

‘I’m really disappointed about that question, but you thought obviously it’s good.’

The reporter then added: ‘So too many games?’

A furious Klopp responded: ‘Oh you don’t think that. Come on! You’re obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.’ That then led to the additional confrontation.

Liverpool led United 2-1 and 3-2 during a thrilling FA Cup quarter-final tie at Old Trafford before goals by Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo in the second-half of extra time took United through.

While Liverpool’s FA Cup hopes have been quashed, they can still add the Premier League title and the UEFA Europa League to the Carabao Cup they won last month.

When asked about potential fatigue in his squad ahead of the international break, Klopp added: ‘I hope the (international managers) want them in the best shape for the summer.

‘So I hope they won’t have to play two lots of 90 minutes. But it’s not in my hands.’

The Reds return to action on March 31 when they travel to Brighton, with Klopp’s side currently second in the Premier League behind Arsenal on goal difference.

The Reds seemed to be cruising to victory at Old Trafford, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister looking like they would be enough before Antony’s equaliser late in normal time.

Harvey Elliott’s deflected effort put them ahead again in extra-time, before Marcus Rashford and then Amad Diallo secured the most dramatic of victories for United.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Klopp bemoaned his side’s wastefulness when ahead in the game.

‘We didn’t finish the game off,’ he said. ‘When you leave the door open, away from home at Old Trafford, it’s clear they would get chances.

‘It was really hard for us. That was the first time I really saw my team… oof… really struggling.

‘When you’re winning, it’s a great position to watch a game. When you’re losing, it’s the worst feeling.’
