New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, currently on the mend from an Achilles tear, took on an unexpected yet pivotal role during Sunday’s thrilling 20-14 win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to reports from The Athletic’sZack Rosenblatt, Aaron Rodgers was not merely a spectator but an “active voice” during the game, actively suggesting plays to the Jets’ coaching staff during the comeback victory.

This impressive engagement showcased Rodgers’ commitment to his team’s success, even as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles sustained just four plays into the Jets’ season.

Jets benefit greatly from Rodgers’ involvement

Rodgers, who was spotted on the field a couple of hours before the game, throwing without crutches or braces, has instilled hope among the Jets’ faithful that he may return to action later this year.

His dedication to aiding the team during his absence underscores the value he brings as both a player and a quasi-coach, a role the Jets anticipated when they acquired him in April.

During the first three preseason games, Rodgers was often seen wearing a headset on the sideline, contributing to strategic decisions.

In the Hall of Fame Game, he even called a play that resulted in a 57-yard throw from Zach Wilson to Malik Taylor.

This time around, with the Jets trailing the Eagles for most of the game, it wasn’t Wilson but safety Tony Adams who made a crucial interception in the final two minutes, setting the stage for running back Breece Hall to secure the comeback victory.

The Jets now boast a 3-3 season record, and their fans are looking forward to Rodgers’ continued sideline involvement on October 29 as they face the New York Giants.

Robert Saleh on Rodgers: “He’s a freakazoid”

Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed his admiration for Rodgers’ dedication and his amazing recovery so far, saying, “He wanted to be on the sidelines… A lot of people that I have talked to… that everyone is in awe that he is even walking. For him to be on the sideline standing the entire time, he’s a freakazoid.”

While Aaron Rodgers’ presence may have primarily involved discussions with the coaches, his influence and support have been felt throughout the team.

His proactive role in providing play suggestions is a testament to his commitment to the Jets’ success.

Expect Rodgers to continue contributing from the sideline as he works on his recovery, with the extraordinary goal of returning to the field later in the season.
