Pat Perez‘s wife slammed Rory McIlroy and said that she would like to see the Northern Irish golfer get punched in the face, in a comments section on Instagram.
Nobody knows what caused the reaction from Ashley Perez, but she is clearly displeased about something the Ryder Cup winner did.
Europe won the Ryder Cup easily, with McIlroy adding four points in his five games to help drive (or putt) the home continentals to victory, perhaps she took the loss too personally?
“I can’t possibly be the only one that would absolutely love to watch Rory get punched in the face,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I mean that in the nicest way possible… kinda.”
Why might Perez be angry with McIlroy?
McIlroy has a degree of controversy at the Ryder Cup as he kicked off with the caddie of Patrick Cantlay, whom he believed was disrespecting him and attempting to interfere with play.
After the hole, he confronted Jim Mackay, a different caddie, in the carpark of the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.
The Northern Irish golfer has previously been critical of the LIV Golf Tour, to which Pat Perez signed to in 2022, pointing out that the new Saudi-backed competition needs the Ryder Cup more than they need LIV.
Perez is yet to win on the circuit and tied 6th in LIV Golf London in July 2023. Perhaps Ashley Perez holds a grudge against him for his views on the tournament that her husband competes in.
